PNG vs JPG
PNG uses lossless compression and supports transparency, making it useful for graphics and screenshots. JPG uses lossy compression, has no transparency, and often stores photographs more efficiently. Text, sharp edges, UI screenshots, logos and flat graphics can show more noticeable compression artifacts.

Does converting PNG to JPG reduce image quality?
JPEG encoding is lossy, so some image information may be discarded. Lettering, crisp borders and flat graphics can reveal artifacts. A higher quality setting can preserve more detail, but does not make JPEG lossless.
What happens to PNG transparency when converting to JPG?
JPEG cannot store alpha transparency. This converter fills the canvas with white (#FFFFFF) before drawing your PNG. Fully transparent pixels become white, and partially transparent edges blend with that white background.
Is JPG usually smaller than PNG?
For photographic content, often yes. Simple graphics and efficiently compressed PNG files may not become smaller. Compare the actual output size instead of assuming that changing the format will save space.
Are JPG and JPEG the same format?
Yes. Both extensions refer to JPEG images. Downloads from this tool use the .jpg extension and the image/jpeg MIME type.
Can I convert multiple PNG files at once?

Are my images uploaded to a server?

The decoded width and height stay the same, without automatic resizing. Original metadata is not copied. Use static PNG images: multiple frames from animated PNGs are not preserved.
