Transparent areas are filled with white (#FFFFFF). JPEG encoding is lossy and may produce a larger file. Animated WebP files are not supported.
Why convert WebP to JPG?
Choose JPG when an app cannot open WebP, a website requires JPEG, or your editing and sharing workflow relies on JPG files. Older tools often have broader JPEG support. This is a compatibility choice, not a claim that JPG is always the better format.
How to convert WebP to JPG
- 01
Select WebP Images
Choose static WebP images or drag them into the upload area. Multiple files are supported.
- 02
Set JPG quality
Start at 90% or adjust the balance between detail and size. Lower values may introduce more artifacts. Transparency is flattened onto white.
- 03
Download your JPGs
Review actual file sizes, dimensions and the quality used. Download each image, or a ZIP when two or more results are ready.
WebP vs JPG
WebP is a modern format with lossy and lossless modes, transparency support and generally efficient web compression. JPG is widely used for photographs and has broad compatibility, but uses lossy compression and cannot store alpha transparency. Re-encoding can affect fine detail, edges and smooth gradients.
WebP to JPG FAQ
Does converting WebP to JPG reduce image quality?
JPEG re-encoding can introduce compression artifacts, fine detail loss and changes in gradients. Higher quality can reduce these effects but is not lossless. Details already lost in a lossy WebP source cannot be restored by converting it.
What happens to transparent WebP images when converted to JPG?
JPG has no alpha channel. The converter draws your image over a white (#FFFFFF) background: fully transparent areas become white, while partially transparent pixels blend with white. This is the same policy used by the PNG to JPG tool.
Is JPG smaller than WebP?
Not necessarily. WebP is often efficiently compressed, so the resulting JPG may be larger. The source content and JPEG quality setting both matter. Check the actual output size rather than assuming a reduction.
Can animated WebP files be converted to JPG?
Animated WebP is not supported. The converter checks the animation flag and animation/frame chunks, rejects animated files and shows an explanation. It does not silently export just the first frame. Use a static WebP instead.
Can I convert multiple WebP files at once?
Yes. Select several static WebP images to process them sequentially with the same quality setting. Download individual JPGs or a ZIP containing two or more completed results.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Decoding, JPEG encoding and ZIP creation run locally in your browser. Your source images and generated files are not uploaded.
Will dimensions and metadata stay the same?
The decoded width and height are preserved without automatic resizing. Original metadata, including EXIF, is not copied. Keep the source if you need its metadata.
