Convert WebP to PNG Online
Turn static WebP images into PNG files while keeping their existing transparency and pixel dimensions. Your images stay in your browser and are not uploaded.

Existing transparency is preserved; conversion does not create a transparent background. PNG files may be larger. Animated WebP is not supported.
Why convert WebP to PNG?
Use PNG when an editor requires it, a platform cannot open WebP, or your workflow is built around PNG files. It can carry existing transparent backgrounds, soft edges and shadows into those tools. For web delivery, keeping the original WebP may still be the more practical choice.
How to convert WebP to PNG
- 01
Select WebP Images
Choose static WebP files or drag them into the upload area. Multiple images are welcome.
- 02
Convert to PNG
PNG output is already selected. The converter keeps the decoded dimensions and does not fill in a background.
- 03
Download your PNGs
Compare actual file sizes and dimensions. Download each PNG or get a ZIP when at least two results are ready.
WebP vs PNG
WebP offers lossy and lossless modes, transparency and generally efficient web delivery. PNG uses lossless compression, supports transparency and works broadly with editing tools. Photographs and large images often take considerably more space as PNG. Neither format is always the better choice.
WebP to PNG FAQ
Does converting WebP to PNG improve image quality?
No. PNG stores the decoded pixels losslessly, but PNG conversion does not restore detail already lost in a lossy WebP image. It changes the file format rather than repairing the source.
Does WebP transparency remain in the PNG file?
The converter draws the source on an alpha-enabled canvas without filling a background. Fully and partially transparent pixels are retained in the PNG; both were checked in actual output tests. An opaque WebP remains opaque: this tool does not remove backgrounds.
Why is the PNG larger than the original WebP?
WebP is often efficiently compressed for delivery on the web. Saving the decoded image as PNG can increase its size substantially, especially for photographs. Use the actual size shown in the results to decide whether PNG suits your workflow.
Can animated WebP files be converted to PNG?
Animated WebP is not supported. The animation flag and animation/frame chunks are checked, and animated files are rejected with an explanation. The tool does not silently export the first frame or create APNG files.
Can I convert multiple WebP files at once?
Yes. Select several static WebP images and process them sequentially. Download individual PNGs or a ZIP containing two or more completed results.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Image decoding, PNG encoding and ZIP creation run locally in your browser. Source images and results are not sent to a server.
Are dimensions and metadata preserved?
The decoded width and height stay unchanged, without automatic resizing. Original metadata such as EXIF is not copied. Browser color management can affect colors, so inspect the output for color-sensitive work.
